Matt Barnes Holds Back Lamar Odom...From Helping Up Kenneth Faried

Rivalries still exist in the NBA, but most players are able to look past them and be courteous to one another. Hell, Carmelo Anthony's New York Knicks and LeBron James' Miami Heat hate each other, but the two stars have managed to be good friends off the court.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes, however, clearly has a different opinion on how opposing players should act towards one another.

In the fourth quarter of his team's Christmas Day game against the conference rival Denver Nuggets, teammate Lamar Odom fouled Denver second-year forward and rebounding machine Kenneth Faried on a breakaway. At the end of it, Faried had fallen to the hardwood. Even though Faried appeared to be OK, Odom offered to help him to his feet.

That is, until Barnes jumped in and kept his teammate from doing so. In the end, Faried had to help himself to his feet, which he did without a problem.

Seriously, folks. Watch the video. Faried gets fouled and hits the deck, and Odom goes to help him.

Enter Barnes, who quickly steps in as of to say, "Oh HELLLLLLLLLLLL NO DON'T YOU HELP HIM!!!"

Look, I understand where Barnes is coming from. Rivalries can get intense, and some go to the extreme of believing that nobody can be friends in such cases.

But Barnes still acted out of line. Odom was trying to be a nice guy, and was kept from doing so.

If this were a bigger rivalry game, namely one that featured the Clippers facing against the Los Angeles Lakers, then I would understand Barnes' feelings. Odom used to play for the Lakers, and they were ready to drop him like a used tissue and send him to the New Orleans Hornets for Chris Paul before the trade was negated and he demanded a trade himself, out of hurt.

But this was not a divisional game against the rival Lakers. It was against a low-seeded conference rival in the Nuggets. The Clippers don't have a long-running beef with Denver, so Barnes' actions were completely uncalled for, as you can see in the video.

Still, the quick reaction to Odom even trying to help a rival player is humorous, and hopefully it can provide you all with a chuckle as the holiday season winds to a close.
