Stoke City hosts Liverpool in a matchup of mid-table EPL teams looking to gain some separation from one another.

The two are deadlocked on the table with 25 points apiece for the campaign.

Stoke has yet to lose a match in December. It notched one win against West Brom and played Aston Villa, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur to draws. A win over Liverpool would make this a highly successful month for the Potters.

Liverpool has had a much more decisive month as the Reds have won four games this month but also dropped a tough matchup with Aston Villa. A five-win month would be huge for Liverpool going forward.

These two clubs are even in terms of results, but their approach to the game couldn't be more different.

Stoke has managed to garner 25 points on the season but it's done it while only scoring just 15 goals. Tony Pulis' side definitely hangs its hat on its defense.

That defense has only allowed only two goals in its last four matches and will really look to slow the pace of the game while keeping Liverpool out of the net.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will look to do quite the opposite. The Reds' success this season can be attributed to a fast-paced, aggressive attack that leads the league in shots per game with 19.2.

The conflicting styles should make for an intriguing matchup, as the club that dictates the pace should come out victorious.
