While in the media Matt Brown's latest victory over Pete Sell was overshadowed by the poor choice of a ref, the UFC matchmaking committee was apparently paying attention.
While nobody can seem to agree on Brown's record, everyone can agree he put on a Muay Thai clinic in what was by far his most impressive preformance to date.
Many projected Brown would get a fight with a real contender and they were correct. It is reported Brown will face Anthony "Rumble" Johnson at TUF Nine.
Johnson is a rising Welterweight star and he brings amazing athleticism, strong wrestling, and KO power in his emerging kickboxing.
Both Brown and Johnson are coming off back-to-back wins over mid-level Welterweights and both have looked impressive in both.
Johnson would certainly be a heavy favorite in this fight as his stand up is easily the equal and almost certainly better than Brown's. Johnson's ground skills are far superior to Brown's.
Brown has strong work ethic and has shown serious improvement since the The Ultimate Fighter and a surprise wouldn't be out of the question.
The stylistic matchup has a back and forth striking match and the winner gets a seat at the "Big Boy's Table."
