Let's take a look at the West region games.
The No. 5 Purdue Boilermakers (27-9) will take on the No. 1 Connecticut Huskies (29-4) at 7:07 p.m. In the second game, the No. 2 Memphis Tigers (33-3) will face the No. 3 Missouri Tigers (30-6) 30 minutes following the UConn/Purdue game.
UConn defeated No. 16 Chattanooga and No. 9 Texas A&M during the opening weekend, while the Boilers took down No. 12 Northern Iowa and No. 4 Washington in Portland last weekend, both by slim margins.
The Huskies 1999 and 2004 title runs came through Phoenix, FYI.
Memphis struggled with No. 15 Cal State-Northridge until late in their first-round game, but pounded the No. 10 Maryland Terrapins 89-70 to advance to the Sweet 16. Mizzou, the Big XII Champs, had a second-half surge to pass by the No. 14 Big Red of Cornell and had a thrilling victory against No. 6 Marquette last Sunday, winning by just four.
The last time Memphis lost a Conference USA game was to Alabama-Birmingham, 62 conference games ago on March 2, 2006. Funny thing is that Missouri head coach Mike Anderson was the coach at UAB during that game.
Either way, a Tiger will head to the Elite 8 to face either the Huskies or Boilers.
