Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions: Game Preview & Predictions

Andrew Garda@andrew_gardaFeatured ColumnistDecember 24, 2012

The Bears avoided all the various traps that took the Detroit Lions down against the Cardinals, destroying Arizona and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Meanwhile, Calvin Johnson continues to be a beast for a terrible team and is shattering Jerry Rice's single-season rushing record, aiming to hit 2,000 yards for the season this week.

He's going to be seeing a lot of Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings, though, and it should make for a fierce battle and some great football watching. Matt Stafford will have to be very careful with the ball when throwing at this opportunistic secondary.

In fact, you've got two pairs of tremendous receiver-quarterback duos in Stafford/Johnson and Jay Cutler/Brandon Marshall.

Cutler has his own issues to be concerned with, as his offensive line continues to be held together by duct tape and good intentions. Can they keep him upright against this tough Lions defensive front?

Can the Lions surprise the Bears and put a wrench in Chicago's efforts to make the playoffs?
