Bloody Mouth For Manu But Stack Plays On

The NBA choses not to suspend Jerry Stackhouse for body slaming Spurs guard Manu Ginobili in a Mavs Spurs game, but choses to suspend Bruce Bowen one game ending his 500 game streak on a very questionable play.

NBA, NBA Southwest, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Hornets, San Antonio Spurs, Jerry Stackhouse, Chris Paul , Manu Ginobili, Bruce Bowen, Manu Ginobili

I read on article on-line about the NBA choosing not to review Jerry Stackhouse's body slam on Spurs guard Manu Ginobili.

This would have just irritated me but then I thought about the NBA's choice to suspend Bruce Bowen for supposedly intentionally kicking Hornets point guard Chris Paul.

The incident occurred following a foul call on Paul with 5:15 remaining in the third period of the Spurs' 100-75 loss to the Hornets on Wednesday, March 12 at New Orleans Arena. Not only did Bruce Bowen miss a big game for the Spurs against the Pistons without pay, he also had his 500 consecutive game streak snapped.

How can the NBA be quick to suspend Bowen on a very questionable "kick" but choose not to review a play where a man was slammed and bleeding from the mouth.

I think the NBA felt that they were somehow obligated to suspend Bruce Bowen because of his past but it does not justify ignoring what Stackhouse did. Jerry Stackhouse seems like a nice man but it was clearly a dirty play and a much worse play then Bruce Bowen's.

There is no reason for the NBA not to suspend Stackhouse or at least review the play, I want Stu Jackson's explanation for that.

  1. Perhaps it has something to do with Manu's "boxing out" with an elbow to the face?

  2. ginobili clearly got position on the box out first and stackhouse pulled him down. i didnt like that they called double fouls for that. oh and bowen didnt kick. it looked like paul was tangled with bowen and bowen went to move his foot and when paul got up into his foot. looked like chris paul's fault to me
