The Name 'John' Remains Dear to Aggies

The last three-quarters of a century of Texas A&M football have taught us at least one thing: If you want your son to become an Aggies offensive legend, it's best to dub him John. Or a derivative of the All-American, apple-pie-yet-tough-guy name. “We called Johnny 'Johnathan' until he was about 10, when he really started playing baseball,” said Michelle Manziel, mother of A&M quarterback Johnathan Paul Manziel. “By middle school, it was full-blown 'Johnny,' that's all he wanted to be called.”
