The MLB 13 the Show cover vote field was completed with two heavy-hitters on Thursday.
AL MVP and triple crown winner, Miguel Cabrera, of the Detroit Tigers and World Series champion and NL MVP, Buster Posey, of the San Francisco Giants were added as the final candidates.
The complete field of players eligible for fan voting includes: Cabrera, Posey, the Pittsburgh Pirates' Andrew McCutchen, Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper, New York Yankees' C.C. Sabathia, Milwaukee Brewers' Ryan Braun and the Los Angeles Dodgers' Matt Kemp.
Each player has their own separate appeal, but there is no doubt the most recent additions to the field bring hardware to back them up.
Cabrera won the first triple crown in the major leagues since 1967. He hit .330, 44 home runs and drove in 139 runs. He helped lead the Tigers to the World Series and he beat out super-rookie Mike Trout for the AL MVP.
It was Cabrera's second consecutive batting title, second RBI title in three years and the second time he's led the AL in home runs. If there was ever a triple crown candidate, Cabrera was the guy.
Posey's MVP season wasn't as eye-popping from a statistical standpoint, but in some ways it was even more impressive. He won the batting title as well, tallying a .336 average. He hit 24 home runs and accumulated 103 RBI.
To top it all off, Posey led the Giants to another World Series title. He came off a season-ending injury the year before, following his Rookie of the Year performance in 2010.
Posey may be the most likable candidate abroad, and that could be the deciding factor. The voting begins on Jan. 7, and the game releases on March 5.
Stay tuned for more information on the game as it becomes available.
