Without Dirk, who could have seen this coming?
With him, they were barely one of the top teams in the west and now there's barely a team.
They do not have another power forward on that team that can consistently give 20 points and eight rebounds. And without that, the Mavericks will have to rely more on Jason Kidd for points (which he is not known for) and the scoring of the other Dallas role players.
This team was once a championship contender, but in the last year, they have lost two things: Their confidence, and their leader, Dirk Nowitzki.
