CORVALLIS – Oregon State offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh started the season with neck surgery and has a detached retina that's "driving me crazy,'' but he is enjoying himself.

"I'm happy,'' said Cavanaugh, who has overseen an offensive line that has made strides, even if they were choppy ones. "I thought we were much more physical.''

The Beavers' offensive line didn't do the about-face that the team did as a whole, going from 3-9 to 9-3, but they did enough to win and enough to make coach Mike Riley optimistic about the future...
