Michael CummingsWorld Football Lead WriterJanuary 7, 2017

It wouldn’t be a proper year of football without a series of scandals. As we all know, 2012 was no exception.

From racism to sex scandals to cheating to bad sportsmanship and everything in between, footballers behaved badly throughout the year. In this video, B/R world football writers Michael Cummings and Will Tidey run down five of the worst.

The John Terry racism saga began in 2011 but remained with us throughout the year. In between a police investigation, a trial in magistrates’ court and a Football Association ban, Terry still managed to play for England at Euro 2012.

Over in Italy, Serie A was once again rocked by match-fixing problems. This time, a big name from a big club was in the spotlight.

Elsewhere, divers kept diving, the Champions League witnessed an incident of astoundingly bad sportsmanship and a referee was falsely accused of serious crimes.
