NBA 2K13: Andre Drummond Gets Boost in Latest Roster Update
Detroit Pistons rookie Andre Drummond is finally getting his due from those in charge of the NBA 2K13 player ratings. Drummond has surprised many critics that questioned his effort and motor (Hartford Courant) as a college freshman at UConn, and he's had a solid rookie season so far.
In the retail rosters, Drummond was rated just a 59 to start. Through 18 games, Drummond is averaging 6.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game.
Before you say that doesn't sound too impressive, consider the fact that he's only playing 18.4 minutes per game. Per 36 minutes, Drummond is tallying 12.7 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots. He's also shooting just under 57 percent from the field.
Drummond hasn't proven all of the naysayers wrong, though. He is making just under 43 percent of his free-throw attempts. That said, his production warrants more than a 59 overall rating, thus he's been upgraded to a 66.
I could make an argument for at least a 70, but seven points is a huge jump. I wish I'd waited to start my Create A Legend series with Drummond, though. I began with the 59-overall rated version of Detroit's man-child to give myself a challenge, but 66 would have been a far easier jump-off point.
Other NBA players that received a ratings boost are as follows:
Atlanta Hawks' Al Horford is up to an 84
Charlotte Bobcats' Kemba Walker is up to an 83
Philadelphia 76ers' Evan Turner is up to an 82
Indiana Pacers' David West is up to an 81
Houston Rockets' Chandler Parsons is up to a 78
In addition to the players that received ratings boosts, 2K Sports also added in a group of players that had been missing from the game's rosters. The New York Knicks' James White is the highlight of the bunch.
He is finally placed on the Knicks roster with a 69 overall.
It's been a long time coming, as White has been on the Knicks roster since November 2. Joining White as new additions are Los Angeles Lakers guard Darius Johnson-Odom (68 overall), 76ers' Maalik Wayns (63 overall), Bobcats' Jeff Adrien (61 overall) and Phoenix Suns' Luke Zeller (59 overall).
There were other changes made to coaching staffs and positions. A member of the Operation Sports community provided a detailed update of the other changes. Check it out, and stay tuned for news on the next NBA 2K13 roster update.
