If you've been watching college basketball, you have seen the UCLA Bruins benefit from more than a few friendly calls from the referees. Now it seems the Bruin's good luck has shifted to their NBA counterparts, the Lakers.
Fifty-two minutes and fifty-six seconds played and the Golden State Warriors find themselves down by two points.
An attempted inbounds play with Derek Fisher guarding Monta Ellis ended with D-Fish tripping and taking Monta down with him. The official called a foul on Ellis, eliminating a chance to see the last second shot the Warriors deserved.
The other officials could have easily stepped in and corrected the official in error, however they opted to deny us a little NBA March madness.
As a result, we were forced to watch the game end with Kobe hitting two free throws to put the game out of reach.
After an amazing game in LA, the refs did not give us the same excitement at the end of the game in Oakland.
So I guess we'll have to wait for the "luck" of the refs to move up the coast and help out in the Bay Area.

even as a laker fan i think the refs should have left it as a no call because ellis charged into fish, but fish also pulled him down (as he was falling). both players were at fault, but in that case it should have been decided by the players, not the refs
6 months ago
No call? He grabbed his jersey and pulled him down. It should have been one shot and the ball to GS. In fact I would argue it should have been a T for unsportsmanlike conduct. That would have been 2 shots and the ball. Laker fans have gotten too used to getting all the calls. Somewhere in the back of the refs mind they know the Lakers in the NBA finals mean $$ for the league and better opportunity for them to get raises.
The reffing in the last two games was obviously biased toward LA. Makes me wanna puke!

the officiating in those games was pretty atrocious. i'm going to stop at the point of saying its some conspiracy for the lakers, or against the warriors...
however, MEMO TO THE NBA- stop letting referees decide games. i think perhaps like in the NFL or tennis, coaches should be able to challenge a call here or there. especially after the whole referee scandal last year (not to mention the most ridiculous officiating i've ever seen in last year's playoffs).

FISHER IS A GOOD ACTOR. NO WONDER HE CAME BACK TO HOLLYWOOD.

OOH MY KNEE! I couldn't keep Ellis in front of me, therefore I grabbed him so we both could fall on the floor, Should of been a no-call, the warriors didn't even get an opportunity to get a shot off. Either make the bucket or not, the teams on the floor should determine the outcome of the game.

Wow! Is that you accept all your defeats? Let's say that was a bad call. What happened during the rest of the game? Were there any calls against the Lakers which could have been deemed a bad call? If I had to ask only you, I know the answer would be a resounding NO because you're a typical Bay Area fan. The Warriors should have put the game out of reach long before it got to that point but they failed. Simply put, they did not lose just because of one call.

That's quite a ridiculous comment, as Fisher was completely and totally at fault and Ellis did absolutely nothing wrong.

Just like all other games, it all comes out in the wash. Stop whining.
Of course Laker fans say the calls are a "wash". Not true. You guys get all the calls and then act like the refs owe you something because Kobe got a boo-boo. The call on Ellis was a joke, everyone knows it. Funny how the point spread was 2.5 for the Fakers...
And Fisher should be suspended or banished to MLS for that little acting job he pulled...

Why don't you lame little whimps go out and work on a new chant other than "Beat LA". You work so hard on beating us, which doesn't have much effect, and you lose sight of the other teams in the league you need to beat. This of course leads to an illness you have obviously contracted which forces you to complain when you don't get your way. The Warriors had the LAKERS down for most of the game and FAILED to kepp it that way; that's why they lost.
But really, why don't you chage your chant to something like "God I hope we beat them this time"? Maybe with some devine intervention you might be able to pull yourselves up from the brink of playoff elimination and rid yourself of that nasty rash I'm sure you've developed from all the excessive whinning you're doing.
The MLS statement, too funny by the way. I'm surprised that you had it in you. You must be a "roided up" Giants fan too. LOL

Lakers...the so called team to beat in the West....and ...yes and the Warriors did beat them.....
Warriors beat them in L.A., and ....then in Okland....there is no way the Lakers would have won that game, without the atrociuos calls and help from the refs. The Lakers didnt win that 2nd game....the Lakers could barely win it.... open your eyes Laker Fans !

Stop whinning Warriors fans, it's almost over for you. ROFLMAO

Has anyone else noticed that when these Gay-Area sports fans reply, they're always negative and attacking no matter how clean you were with your remarks? I have to say I understand why though. They have been on the losing side for so damn long! When was the last time the Warriors won a championship? It sure won't be this year!

What a totally moronic statement! I guess if you're a skilled player and on a tem from LA, the only way that you can do anything good is because you're getting favorable calls from the referees. Some should let the Kings know about this because they sure haven't been listening. Oh wait, sorry... I forgot you guys will more than likely have an excuse for that too. Go ahead, feel free to fling some more of your BS; I can't wait.

Even unbiased professionals have hinted at the fact that it was a missed call.
"Key factoids you might not know: Here's one that might shock you. The Lakers employ one of the game's more renowned floppers in Derek Fisher, whose thespian skills most recently came into play on a controversial game-ending offensive foul against Golden State's Monta Ellis that could end up costing the Warriors a playoff spot." -John Hollinger of ESPN

Think about what he, and you are trying to say. One play over an entire season is keeping the Warriors out of the playoffs... How about the other losses they have suffered this season? Could those have something to do with it? Oh, sorry I forgot, the Lakers cheated to get that win. I was at that game and it went back and forth. I saw questionable calls for both sides, however if the Warrioirs would have won I would have said good game and gone on with it. Just because this is an LA team you and others have to make more of an issue out of it than there really is.
THAT ONE PLAY IS NOT WHY THEY LOST THE GAME. Recall they were well up on the Lakers and taking it to them; I was worried. Should I say they got lucky to tie the game when the Lakers went ahead? No, and I won't; it was great play on both sides of the ball. I personally think you were all thinking about the game from the night before when they BEAT, see I can say it, the Lakers and were hoping it would happen again. When it nearly did you had to come up with an excuse as to why they were beat. You know the Lakers are a good team, and I will say the played a sloppy game that night so stop your damn whining.
One last thing Matt... Just because you get a quote from some guy at ESPN and fling it out here for all to see doesn't make it true. Oh yeah, what is your take on the charging call against Kobe with 2 minutes left in OT?

Odd to that you would quote someone from ESPN when your bio states this;
Matt's Bio
I enjoy watching sports, but I am tired of the TV media (ESPN) taking one stance and sticking with it.
The Bleacher Report gives everyone a chance to see all sides of the story.
I guess you only do it when it suits you, huh?

4/2- Dallas 111 Warriors 86
4/4- Lakers 112 Dallas 108
Here you are. Yet another reason why the Warriors may not make the playoffs while the Lakers have already clenched their spot. Kind of a big difference in scores for a team so much better than the Lakers if you ask me.
Feel free to continue your whinning.

And yours is better Matt? Just because your stupid name is up there? You're trying to blame a whole season on one Laker game; that's original. My point was simply that the Warriors have lost other games besides the one against the Lakers, yet you're point is that the Lakers have somehow robbed them of a playoff spot. Here's my name Matt, it's Jeff. Does that make you feel better? Now stop writing a bunch of whinning BS and try to admit like others that the Lakers are a good tem and that's why they're going to the playoffs. Obviously the Warriors are a good team as well they just happen to have people that come up with brilliant staements like the refs like the other teams better for the reason they are struggling for the last playoff spot.

By the way Matt... How do you explain your Bio stating one thing yet your column is something completely opposite? This is Jeff again just so you know.

You see, even Baron Davis makes the same point I have tried to make.
“It’s unfortunate, in a situation like that, that we didn’t get an opportunity to get a shot up,” said Baron Davis, who had 30 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. “You can’t blame it all on the last play, but you can’t blame it on our effort, either. I think both games, going down to the wire, they’re good games.”
Can you suck it up like Baron did? Or are you going to continue to hang on to your excuses?
