The Dallas Cowboys are suddenly back in the NFC playoff race. Would a win over the New Orleans Saints give Tony Romo's team Super Bowl contender status?
The Cowboys pulled off an overtime win against Pittsburgh in a game that both teams needed to keep pace in their respective divisions. The Cowboys' Week 15 triumph puts them in a three-way logjam atop the NFC East at 8-6, along with the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. If the Cowboys can hold serve again, they will likely control their own destiny when they travel to face Washington in Week 17.
New Orleans can chalk up 2012 as the season lost to the "BountyGate" scandal. Despite former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue revoking the sentences of the four Saints players suspended by Roger Goodell, the Saints have little to play for, except for the pride of avoiding a losing season. Drew Brees snapped an interception slump of sorts in a Week 15 rout of Tampa Bay, and he surely looks to end the season on a positive note.
