The Carolina Panthers went into San Diego and annihilated the Chargers in Week 15, winning by a score of 31-7.
Cam Newton continued to stretch his hot streak in this one, passing for 231 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He hit DeAngelo Williams on a 45-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Steve Smith on a four-yard strike midway through the third quarter.
Mike Tolbert put in good work for the Panthers, too, as he punched in two one-yard touchdown runs and totaled 40 yards on the ground.
Philip Rivers fared much worse than Newton, as he was under incredible pressure from the Panthers front four, which devastated the Chargers offensive line to the tune of six sacks and three additional quarterback hits.
Greg Hardy and Charles Johnson both had two sacks, and the Panthers defense was stout against the run all day, to boot.
Rivers finished the game with just 121 yards and one touchdown.
The Panthers improved to 5-9 on the season and will host the Oakland Raiders in Week 16, while the Chargers fell to 5-9 and will travel to face the New York Jets next Sunday.
