Felipe Massa, has publicly backed the old FIA system of points awarding after the FIA made a U-turn on its new system of most wins.
In the announcement he said "I'm really not interested in whether I would have won the title last year. I'm interested in what's right for our sport."
Last year, had the new system been introduced, Massa would of won the championship. He also reminded us that ""To assign the title to the driver who wins the most races is not correct. We've 17 races in the championship. It's not the Olympics 100m sprint."
Massa also said that it was important to reward consistency in racing, rather than who can win the most. Robert Kubica was a contender for the championship, despite winning only one race in Canada.
This announcement comes after many of the Formula One teams protested over the system. Under pressure, the FIA postponed the introduction of the new system to 2010.
