Two shots against the woodwork, one from Modric in the first half and another from Di María in the second half, and a great performance from Casilla thwarted the Real Madrid win in the final home match of the year. Sergio García put Espanyol ahead with the visitors’ first shot on goal, but Ronaldo, moments before the break, and Coentrão, who scored his first goal for the Whites, turned the scoreboard around. Albín, in the 88th minute, squared up a match that Real Madrid deserved to win both for the way that they played and the chances that they created.
