Andre-Pierre Gignac gave Marseille a huge lift by coming off the bench on Saturday to sink Toulouse with a fine effort. The goal gave Marseille three points and moved them into second place pending the PSG - Lyon result. It is the big man's marksmanship that L'OM has been missing over the last two months while Gignac was out with a broken bone in his foot.

Gignac got off to a flying start to the season with five goals. His efforts helped quickly put behind the disappointment from his first two seasons with Marseille. Unfortunately for Gignac and Marseille, his injury put an end to his fabulous start.

Without the heart of their attack, Marseille struggled to keep up the form that got them off to a record start. Their inconsistencies saw them drop from the top of the table and fall out of the Europa League.

Marseille boast one of the more talented squads in France. With the Ayew brothers, Matthieu Valbuena, Loic Remy and Steve Mandanda, L'OM is a tough matchup for any team.

Gignac's return coupled with the selection availability of Joey Barton, and Marseille have all the pieces to make a serious run at the Ligue 1 title. Like their rivals PSG, Marseille must find consistency to maintain a title challenge.

Gignac's ability to finish should find a new friend with Barton in the squad. Barton's passing will provide Gignac the service required to give the striker ample opportunities to find the back of the net.

APG is the type of talent that can help carry a team for stretches throughout a season. His talent combined with the hard work he has put in to get himself back in form could be enough to inspire Marseille to beat PSG and Lyon to the title.
