It was a moment we all needed to see.

We saw the gentle side of Kevin Garnett, who walked over to hug and support his friend Kevin McHale. McHale recently lost his 23-year-old daughter to a fight with lupus.

McHale drafted Garnett in 1995 to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He took Garnett straight out of high school, the first time in 20 years that a team went that route.

They spent 12 years together in Minnesota.

The two of them embracing on the sidelines would overshadow 48 minutes of basketball. For a brief moment, we forgot that they had just faced off in a game.

McHale walked off the court in tears, ending what would be an emotional Friday for many people around the country.
