The Boston Celtics escaped Wednesday night's matchup against the Dallas Mavericks with a 117-115 win in double-overtime.
After seemingly endless back-and-forth action throughout the first four quarters and the first overtime, Boston was able to jump out to a 111-107 lead with just 17 seconds left in the final period.
From there, it was simply time to hold on.
Vince Carter knocked down a three to cut the lead to one, but Paul Pierce and Courtney Lee hit their free throws down the stretch and Darren Collison threw an untimely bad pass into the first row at TD Garden, sealing the victory for the C's.
Boston is now 12-9, while the Mavericks fall to 11-11.

Player of the Game: Rajon Rondo
This is a toughie. Paul Pierce dropped 34 points on 11-of-25 shooting and racked up six rebounds, three assists, four steals and a slew of big shots down the stretch in regulation and both overtimes, but I have to go with Rondo.
Rondo was once again his do-everything self on Wednesday night: 16 points on 8-of-14 from the field, nine rebounds, 15 assists and three steals.
The electric point guard continues to play the best basketball of his career.
