Besides 'Melo's shooting and J-Kidd's heroics, what were the other keys?
-New York slowed down Brooklyn's ball movement and outscored the Nets 26-18 in the 4th quarter
-Brooklyn shot a paltry 4-of-18 from beyond the arc.
-The Knicks fell behind early because they didn't get any second-chance points. Reggie Evans (18 rebounds) made sure that didn't happen.
-Andray Blatche led the Nets with 23. Joe Johnson and Deron Williams combined for 34 points, which isn't going to cut it when facing a Knicks team that boasts Melo (45 points) and J.R. Smith (16 points).
-It was a relatively slow-paced game, with just 17 total fast break points between the two teams. That kind of pace and ball control favors the older, savvier Knicks.
Ultimately, this game was about 'Melo putting the Knicks on his back:

He was on fire from long range the entire night.
NYK having J-Kidd in the lineup this time around turned out to be the difference, as he hit the game-winning shot.
And what was my first tweet of the game? "We have Kidd tonight!" Haha #VinnyTakeOver

Probably in the "L" column.
NYK letting 'Melo facilitate a lot more here.

J.R. Smith is key for NYK down the stretch:
J.R. Smith is shooting very well (6-for-10; 14 points), much needed for the #Knicks with Melo basically on his own island.
