NFL Power Rankings Based Purely on Records

Power rankings allow for top-notch water-cooler arguments. 

In these fantastic debates, one can argue for or against any given teams' schedule, their offensive and defensive statistics, their roster or even just how they score on the eye test.

This following set of rankings can't be disputed, for they comprise how each NFL team ranks by matter of their winning percentage. 

Tiebreakers will be decided by point differential. 

No. 32 Kansas City Chiefs: 2-11

Highlights: They had a Week 3 victory in overtime in New Orleans and a home victory against the Panthers.

Lowlights: They only have two highlights.

No. 31 Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-11

Highlights: They lost in overtime in Houston and beat Indianapolis in their own building.

Lowlights: Blaine Gabbert started nine games, and Maurice Jones-Drew got injured.

No. 30 Oakland Raiders: 3-10

Highlights: They beat Pittsburgh at home and have the seventh-ranked passing offense.

Lowlights: They've allowed an NFL leading 402 points defensively for a point differential of −154.

No. 29 Tennessee: 4-9

Highlights: They won at home against Pittsburgh, Jake Locker has had moments that assuage his first-round draft selection and Chris Johnson had a good second half of season.

Lowlights: They lost to the Jaguars, and Chris Johnson had a bad first half of the season.         

No. 28 Arizona Cardinals: 4-9

Highlights: They began the season 4-0, beat New England in Foxboro and Patrick Peterson has become a top-five corner.

Lowlights: They currently have an nine-game losing streak, lost to Seattle 58-0, have scored the league worst 186 points and Ryan Lindley and John Skelton have played substantially.

No. 27 Philadelphia Eagles: 4-9

Highlights: They began the season 3-1, beat the New York Giants at home and Tampa Bay on the road with a walk-off touchdown.

Lowlights: The Eagles have had extensive injuries, an eight-game losing streak, are clearly heading into rebuilding mode and have had a poor season beginning the season as contenders. 

No. 26 Detroit Lions: 4-9

Highlights: Calvin Johnson is on pace to set the NFL record for receiving yards in a season, Ndamukong Suh has not been suspended once.

Lowlights: They lost eight games by one score or less and are 0-5 in divisional games. 

No. 25 Carolina Panthers: 4-9

Highlights: They beat Atlanta and Washington, and Cam Newton has had a solid second half of the season. 

Lowlights: The Panthers began season 2-6 and lost seven games by six points or less. 

No 24 Buffalo Bills: 5-8

Highlights: C.J. Spiller averages 6.6 yards per carry.

Lowlights: They let the Jets score 48 points, Ryan Fitzpatrick has digressed and Fred Jackson hasn't been healthy.

No. 23 Miami Dolphins: 5-8

Highlights: They were featured on HBO's Hard Knocks, Ryan Tannehill might be good and they've won five games already with that roster.

Lowlights: Their wide receiver depth chart is weak, and they have lost five of their last six.

No. 22 New Orleans Saints: 5-8

Highlights: Drew Brees set record for consecutive games with a touchdown, and the team had a stretch where they won five of six.

Lowlights: Their defense is porous, they had the bounty scandal, started 0-4 and lost to the Kansas City Chiefs at home.

No. 21 Cleveland Browns: 5-8

Highlights: They have a current three-game winning streak, and their rookies lead the team statistically in passing, rushing, and receiving.

Lowlights: They began the season 0-5 and blew a 14-0 lead against the Giants.

No. 20 San Diego: 5-8

Highlights: They began season 3-1, beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh and their defense is ranked fourth against the run.

Lowlights: They blew 24-0 lead at home against Denver, and Philip Rivers has digressed.

No. 19 New York Jets: 6-7

Highlights: Even without Darrelle Revis, the Jets have the third ranked pass defense, and as of now, they're somehow still in the playoff picture.

Lowlights: Mark Sanchez has played poorly, Tim Tebow has been used egregiously and Jeremy Kerley is the team's best offensive weapon.

No. 18 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 6-7

Highlights: They have the NFL's best rush defense, Josh Freeman has matured, Vincent Jackson has excelled and Doug Martin rushed for 251 yards and four touchdowns in one game.

Lowlights:  They have a current three-game losing streak, the worst passing defense in NFL and began the season 3-4.

No. 17 St. Louis Rams: 6-6-1

Highlights: They tied the 49ers in San Francisco, beat the 49ers at home and are 4-0-1 in divisional play.

Lowlights: They have the fourth lowest scoring offense in NFL, and they could have drafted RG III.

No. 16 Dallas Cowboys: 7-6

Highlights: They have the third ranked passing attack, have a drastically improved defensive secondary and opened the season with a road win against division rival New York.

Lowlights: They have a lack of a running game, blew a Thanksgiving lead at home against Washington and began the season 4-5.

No. 15 Minnesota Vikings: 7-6

Highlights: Adrian Peterson has excelled, they started 5-2, their home record is 6-1 and they beat both Chicago and San Francisco. 

Lowlights: Christian Ponder has the Vikings as the NFL's lowest ranked passing attack, and Percy Harvin's health is in question.

No. 14 Pittsburgh Steelers: 7-6

Highlights: They defeated Baltimore on the road with Charlie Batch playing quarterback, have an NFL best defense against the pass and had a four-game winning streak.

Lowlights: They have had injuries on both sides of the ball and have lost to bad teams such as the Browns, Raiders, Chargers and Titans. 

No. 13 Washington Redskins: 7-6

Highlights: They have a current four-game winning streak, rookies Alfred Morris and RG III have shined and the team has the seventh ranked rush defense.

Lowlights: Defense is 31st against the pass, the team started 3-6 and Brian Orakpo has missed most of the season.  

No. 12 Cincinnati Bengals: 7-6

Highlights: They beat the New York Giants, A.J. Green has 10 touchdowns already and the team is 4-2 on the road.

Lowlights: They are 1-3 against divisional opponents and 3-4 at home. 

No. 11 Chicago Bears: 8-5

Highlights: Brandon Marshall leads the NFL in receptions, the team began the season 7-1 and the defense has returned seven interceptions for touchdowns.

Lowlights: The offensive line has been weak, the team has lost four of their last five games and is 3-5 against teams with a winning record.

No. 10 Seattle Seahawks: 8-5

Highlights: Russell Wilson has been solid, the team has the fourth ranked rushing offense and is undefeated at home.

Lowlights: They have three losses to teams with sub .500 records and a 2-5 road record.

No. 9 New York Giants: 8-5

Highlights: They beat NFC contenders San Francisco and Green Bay and rank third in points scored.

Lowlights: They have the 27th worst pass defense, lost to Philadelphia and have lost three of their last five games. 

No. 8 Indianapolis Colts: 9-4

Highlights:  Andrew Luck has been solid, the team has won seven of their last eight games and eight of their nine wins have come in games decided by seven points or less.

Lowlights: They have a −37 point differential, lost to Jacksonville and have three losses by 20 or more points. 

No. 7 Green Bay Packers: 9-4

Highlights: They have won seven of their last eight games, are 6-1 at home and are 4-0 against divisional foes.

Lowlights: They are 3-4 against teams with a winning record and were victims of the replacement ref debacle. 

No. 6 Baltimore Ravens: 9-4

Highlights: They began the season 9-2, Ray Rice's converted on 4th-and-29 to help beat the Chargers, the team has a  4-1 divisional record and beat New England.

Lowlights: They lost to Charlie Batch, lost to Houston by 30 and had some bad defensive injuries to Haloti Ngata, Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and Lardarius Webb.

No. 5 San Fransisco 49ers: 9-3-1

Highlights: They beat Green Bay in Lambeau, have a +132 point differential and their defense is second against the pass and run.

Lowlights: The got blown out at home by the New York Giants, went 0-1-1 against St. Louis and lost to Minnesota.

No. 4 Denver Broncos: 10-3

Highlights: Peyton Manning's neck appears to be a non-issue, the team has won eight straight games and has already clinched the AFC West.

Lowlights: They are 2-3 against teams with a winning record and rank 20th in rushing.

No. 3 New England Patriots: 10-3

Highlights: Their offense is first in points scored, and the second ranked team has 97 points less than them. The team is winners of seven straight with a balanced offensive as they have the seventh ranked rushing attack and the team has point differential of 198.

Lowlights: They started the season 1-2 which featured a home loss to Arizona, and their defense is ranked 29th against the pass.

No. 2 Atlanta Falcons: 11-2

Highlights: They won their first eight games, are undefeated at home and have clinched NFC South.

Lowlights: They have the 28th ranked rushing offense and lost to Carolina.

No. 1 Houston Texans: 11-2

Highlights: They began the season 5-0, J.J. Watt has been impressive and they have had road wins against Denver and Chicago.

Lowlights: Their two losses have been by a combined 46 points.
