NFL Week 14 Winners and Losers
Each week, there's tons of talk about rookie quarterbacks. Week 14 saw the same—rookie quarterbacks leading their teams with thrilling comebacks. But those rookie quarterbacks did not have RGIII, Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson on their jerseys.
With Griffin on the sideline suffering with a sprained right knee and the Washington Redskins' playoff hopes in the balance, seldom-used rookie QB Kirk Cousins led the Redskins to a game-tying touchdown and ran in a two-point conversion to put the game into OT. The Redskins went on to win 31-28, as they proved that two rookie quarterbacks are better than one.
How about Nick Foles bringing the Philadelphia Eagles back to beat the Tampa Bay Bucs 22-21, dealing Tampa Bay one of those devastating losses with big playoff implications? Foles snapped the Eagles' eight-game losing streak and showed Philly fans huge promise—not to mention the rookie QB threw for 381 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
The Derek Anderson and Matt Leinart years are looking good for the Cardinals. The Arizona quarterbacks turned the ball over eight times and were shut out by the Seahawks, 58-0. This is the same Cardinals team that started the season 4-0, including a win versus the Patriots. Since their undefeated start, Arizona has lost nine in a row and it does not look good in the desert.
Seattle, on the other hand, improved to 8-5 and have a chance of taking the NFC West if they keep on keeping on like this. Seattle is a huge winner, Arizona a bigger loser.
For those who thought the Chicago Bears were a lock to win the NFC North, think again. Adrian Peterson ran for 154 yards and two touchdowns (big winner) on the depleted Bears defense, handing them a huge loss (the fourth in five weeks) and setting up a Week 15 showdown with the Packers. Jay Cutler finished the game on the sidelines with another nasty hit to the head. The Bears were big losers in Week 14.
Big Ben is back. No problem? The San Diego Chargers are in town, so it should be an easy win. Right? Think again.
The Pittsburgh Steelers looked primed to make a big playoff run last week with a big win versus the Baltimore Ravens. However, Pittsburgh laid a huge egg against the Chargers in their 34-24 defeat. The Steelers were also big losers in this week, dropping to 7-6.
