Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Live Score, Highlights and Analys
The Eagles used a dramatic walkoff touchdown from Nick Foles to Jeremy Maclin to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-21, ending their eight-game losing streak. On the final drive, Foles converted a pair of fourth downs, plus a third and long conversion, before tossing a one-yard strike to Maclin on the game's final play.
The victory improved the Eagles to 4-9, while dropping the Buccaneers to 6-7. Tampa Bay now faces a very uphill battle to reach the playoffs, as they will need to win their final three games (and need some help) to reach the postseason.
If you looked at the schedule before the start of the season, you never would have expected this to be a game that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed to stay in the playoff hunt or that the Philadelphia Eagles would be on the verge of elimination.
Yet that's where we stand. The Eagles have dropped eight in a row, and the Buccaneers likely need to win their final four games to secure a wild-card spot. And even that may not be enough, as Tampa Bay finished 10-6 in 2010 and missed the postseason.
This loss drops Tampa Bay to 6-7 and all but eliminates them from a realistic shot at making the playoffs. They would need to win their final three games and that still likely wouldn't be enough.
The last time the Eagles played Tampa Bay on the road, they lost 23-21 on a walkoff 62-yard field goal. This time, they won 23-21 on a walkoff 1-yard touchdown pass.
Nick Foles showed that he deserves to be the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. 32-of-51 for 380 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Total ice water in his veins on that final drive. He's improved in each of the last four games.
You know who needed this victory more than anybody? Andy Reid. After losing his son in training camp, plus the team's eight-game losing streak, this was likely the worst year of his life.
Wow. Nick Foles delivers a perfect strike to Jeremy Maclin in the right corner of the end zone and the Eagles have ended their eight-game losing streak in dramatic fashion.
Jason Avant with the catch down to the 2. Eagles spike. 2 seconds left.
Dropped interception. Wow. Eagles facing a 4th-and-5. This is it.
Eagles facing a 3rd-and-5 with just 22 seconds left. Ball on the 23-yard line. Eagles trailing 21-16 and need a touchdown to win this game. This is a lot of pressure for rookie Nick Foles.
Eagles fans are in line for the fourth overall draft pick if they lose this game.
Nick Foles uses his legs to keep the Eagles' hopes alive. Philly at the Tampa Bay 29-yard line.
Eagles facing a 4th and 1 with the game on the line. A loss officially eliminates them from postseason contention.
Huge sack by Michael Bennett puts the Eagles in a 3rd-and-14 situation but Foles delivers a strike to Jeremy Maclin for the first down. Philly is across midfield with 1:51 left.
Here it is. A two-minute drive for the Eagles. Down five. It's do-or-die for Nick Foles.
Buccaneers with a third and long coming up. A first down all but seals the victory for Tampa Bay. Eagles' defense has not been good on third and long this season.
And we have ourselves a game here. Nick Foles delivers a bullet to backup tight end Clay Harbor on third down and the Eagles have scored to cut the deficit to 21-16 with 3:55 left. The two-point conversion failed.
Eagles have driven down the field but they're still down by 11 with just over four minutes to play. Nick Foles has topped 300 yards for the first time in his career and Jason Avant is over 100 receiving.
Doug Martin has a) topped 100 yards against a pretty stout Eagles' run defense and b) given the Buccaneers an 11-point lead. This one could be all over.
The Eagles are the only team in the NFL who have not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season. Bucs' running back Doug Martin is at 90 yards right now.
The Eagles' defense has played noticeably tougher and more physical than in the previous weeks. You have to wonder if the firing of Washburn has anything to do with the revived defense.
Buccaneers can control the clock here with runs by Doug Martin. A touchdown would put the Eagles in a pretty big hole, especially with a rookie quarterback and struggling offense.
Buccaneers take the lead early in the fourth quarter on a Vincent Jackson touchdown. That's his second touchdown of the game and eighth of the season. He is now over 100 yards, his fourth time this year.

Eagles announce that quarterback Nick Foles has a left elbow contusion but will return to the game.
Interesting stat as we head into the fourth quarter: Buccaneers are fourth in the league in points scored in the fourth quarter (112). Eagles are 30th (57). If each team scores their season average points in the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers will win by one.
Vincent Jackson with a 40-yard leaping catch puts the Buccaneers well into Eagles' territory. A field goal ties the game, a touchdown gives them the lead. Bucs threatening.
The Buccaneers have five sacks in this game. That's their most in a game in more than two years. Gerald McCoy leads the attack with two.
