What Should New York Jets Give Up For Jay Cutler, If Anything?

At the gym I usually don't watch E!spn, but one of the four TVs I usually watch Cash Cab on while on the elliptical was broken.

Some women were watching Kathy-Lee and Hoda. There was a group watching financial news. The other one was on one of the E!spn channels. No one could be talked into changing, so I figured I could laugh at either Kathy-Lee and Hoda or at E!spn.

I chose the sports network, figuring I might get some actual sports news beneath the meaningless conjecture of the overpaid imbeciles.

On the "First and Ten" segment, Skip Bayless was in a urinating contest over what the Jets should give up to get Jay Cutler. For some reason, there were two guys against him.

Guy One says something about how the Jets need a QB and the first pick for Cutler seems right. Guy Two says something like how they need a QB and should offer a a No. 1 and No. 2 pick for him.

Not to be outdone, Skippy says something about how Cutler is a definite future Hall of Fame QB and the Jets should offer their top three picks in the draft. Maybe I'm mis-remembering that, but I believe it's what he said.

And I, a Patriots fan, laughed. I hope the team built for a ball-control offense gets another gunslinger. I hope the Jets are as media-driven as I think, and capture the back page of some worthless New York tabloid by mortgaging their future for young Favre minus the talent plus an attitude.

Then part of me worried.

Why help Denver that much? I mean, if it was Detroit or Oakland, so what? But Denver is not that bad. The Patriots face them this year. Whomever they draft will likely improve that defense. With three extra picks. they'd be more likely to get a Rookie of the Year candidate.

And if Denver makes the playoffs, the Patriots could face them again. That's when I decided the Jets need to trade all of their draft picks for 2009 and 2010 for JaMarcus Russell.

No, seriously, how much do you think the Jets should give up for Cutler?

Remember to preface your comment with what team you are a fan of. Charger fans might say a seventh rounder, while Bronco fans could insist on all of the Jet picks and a player to be named later.

One nice thing about being a fan is that you do not have to pretend to be impartial and an expert on everything, like E!spn commentators.
