MONTREAL, CANADA- MAY 3: Guy Carbonneau of the Montreal Canadiens explains his views on the series after being defeated by the Philadelphia Flyers in Game Five of the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs on May 3, 2008 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. A few days ago, former Montreal Canadiens' coach Guy Carbonneau gave a press conference.

Sitting at the familiar postgame table, he spoke to reporters about his firing. Without ripping the organization he thanked the Gillet family, the players, the fans and team President Pierre Boivin.

He also thanked his old friend GM and interim head coach Bob Gainey to give him the chance to coach.

Cryptic message

Near the end of the press conference Carbonneau said "one day the truth will come out."

Is there more to his firing? Did Gainey really want to fire Carbonneau? Or did the team owner and president have their hands in this as well?

I believe some veteran players voiced their opinions on Carbonneau's coaching method...and whoever gets the next coaching job in Montreal will face the same treatment.
