Should the Main Event of WWE TLC Still Be a TLC Match with No Title?

CM Punk is out of the main event at TLC and Team Hell No and The Shield are in.

The main event shake-up happened after reported that CM Punk will have to miss the event due to recent knee surgery he had to undergo.

The six-man tag match should be very entertaining. It will give the majority of the WWE audience their first taste of a real match from Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.

The fact that Bryan will be wrestling Seth Rollins is sure to make fans of Ring Of Honor salivate.

The only problem with this match—it is still a TLC match.

WWE has to use the TLC stipulation somewhere on the card or it would not be a TLC event, but this is not the right way to do it.

The match will be decided by pinfall or submission, instead of someone reaching for a prize suspended above the ring.

This defeats the purpose of a TLC match altogether.

TLC matches are supposed to be ladder matches on steroids and if there is no prize to climb for, it is not a ladder match.

This is essentially an extreme rules match with only three weapons to choose from. Maybe I am just critical, but it seems like there are so many other options that they could have chosen.

WWE should have made the main event an elimination tables match and used the TLC stipulation for the Big Show vs. Sheamus match.

Sure, WWE already made it a chairs match, but they have plenty of time to turn it into a TLC match between now and the pay-per-view.

The chairs match stip. could have been put on the IC title match or the US title match that was just made between Antonio Cesaro are R-Truth.

TLC was shaping up to be a great PPV and now there is a big question mark over the event because of the problems. We will not see the tag or WWE titles defended at the PPV and that could hurt the buyrate.

CM Punk against Ryback was the attraction match.

Everyone wanted to know if CM Punk's long reign would be ended by the monster. It was unlikely, but still possible.

Not only does this put everyone involved in the TLC match in a strange position, but it also puts more pressure on Big Show and Sheamus to perform in the only top title match of the night.

Now that they are the only top title match on the card, their match should be treated as the main event of the show.

But that won't happen.

WWE will most likely end the night with the six-man tag TLC match, instead of a title match.

In my opinion, that is not the way you end a PPV when you don't have a big attraction match like John Cena vs. The Rock to rely on for the PPV buys.

The one good thing that could come out of CM Punk dropping out of the match is that now the show rests on the shoulders of everyone else. Plus, we finally get a match with the members of The Shield.

CM Punk has been the driving force in WWE for the past year, even if his matches have not always closed out the PPVs.

Without him, there is more spotlight to go around.

This gives every other match on the card a better chance of being the match of the night, which looks like it will probably end up being Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler in a ladder match.

This situation is certainly not ideal for WWE.

Vince McMahon likes having both top titles on the line, and with the "real" top title no longer featured, it is almost a guarantee that they will see a dip in sales for the event.

Hopefully WWE comes to their senses and changes up some of the card before the even. If they don't, then we are in store for the first ever TLC match in which nobody has to climb a ladder to win.
