Suggs' presence will be a huge mental boost to a Ravens defense that has not been as dominant as we are accustomed to seeing. It will be interesting to see how his triceps holds up in this game.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, Suggs will not be on the field for the Ravens against Washington.

The Ravens' already-porous run defense did not need more bad news against the Redskins' top-ranked rushing attack.

The Associated Press passed along this update on Suggs:

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs hopes a torn right biceps won’t keep him out of Sunday’s game against Washington. He says his status won’t be determined for sure until late in the week.

How late in the week? The AP noted that Suggs said he would be a "game time decision."

UPDATE: Monday, Dec. 3 at 10:02 p.m. ET by Richard Langford

NFL Network's Albert Breer tweeted that Suggs has confirmed he does have a torn biceps, but Suggs doesn't expect it to keep him off the field:

Terrell Suggs confirms via text he has torn biceps. Was told there are three or four guys in the NFL playing through a similar injury.

— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) December 4, 2012

Asked Suggs if he can play through it. Response: "I can".

— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) December 4, 2012

We will see if the doctors agree with Suggs. I know I certainly wouldn't want to be the one to tell him otherwise.

UPDATE: Monday, Dec. 3 at 9:34 p.m. ET by Richard Langford

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted an update on Suggs' injury that may be terrible news for the Ravens, or no big deal:

Terrell Suggs has torn biceps. Doctors say there are some torn biceps players can play through, others they can't. Thus, 2nd opinion needed.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 4, 2012

That will be a highly anticipated second opinion.

UPDATE: Sunday, Dec. 2 at 8:20 p.m. ET by Ben Chodos

Mixed messages are emerging from the Ravens regarding Terrell Suggs' injury.

The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reported the following in regard to the reigning Defensive Player of the Year:

Terrell Suggs told me regarding his arm injury: "I'll be all right." John Harbaugh said: "No immediate word on Terrell Suggs"

— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) December 3, 2012

The Ravens can only hope Suggs' evaluation of his arm is close to the truth, as his presence will certainly help the team bounce back from its 23-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here's what the Ravens' Twitter had to say:

Terrell Suggs came off the field grabbing his arm and appeared to be in pain. He's getting looked at by the training staff now.

— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) December 3, 2012

The Ravens followed with this:

Terrell Suggs just walked down into the locker room for further evaluation.

— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) December 3, 2012

Suggs had two tackles Sunday before leaving the game. Even when he wasn't making a play, though, he was giving the Steelers something to think about on every play.

Baltimore's defense has struggled this season. Suggs missed part of the year while recovering from an injury, and he's helped it improve in recent weeks. Without him, it's hard to tell if the Ravens can maintain their success on that side of the ball.

If Suggs cannot go, rookie Courtney Upshaw will see an uptick in playing time. Paul Kruger could also see some time on the left side as well.

Stay tuned for updates on Suggs' status.
