Bad news from the Detroit Lions game as rookie wide receiver Ryan Broyles injured his right knee and went to the locker room after being examined by trainers on the sidelines.

UPDATE: Monday, Dec. 3 at 2:40 p.m. by Matt Fitzgerald

The diagnosis for Broyles' knee is horrific news for the Lions, as reported by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

Broyles tore ACL in his left knee last year. Tore the right one on his 7th play Sunday. Second round pick.

Now that Broyles has suffered another major knee injury, his football future may be in jeopardy, which is a shame. The former Oklahoma Sooner standout was coming into his own as the season progressed, highlighted by an exceptional six-catch, 126-yard performance against the Houston Texans in Week 12.

UPDATE: Saturday, Dec. 1, 3:10 p.m. ET by Donald Wood

While the Detroit Lions need all the wide receiver depth they can get, Broyles is in street clothes on the sideline during the game against the Colts Sunday, according to the Lions’ official Twitter account:

After being on the bench, Anwar Richardson of MLive.com is reporting that Broyles day is over:

According to Anwar Richardson of MLive.com, Broyles' return has been officially listed as questionable:

While Broyles is still on the sideline, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press is reporting on how the team is treating him:

Broyles is still in pads. He is sitting on the trainer's table again with doctors around him

With a season-ending injury to Nate Burleson and the issues with Titus Young that currently have him on the inactive list, Detroit's lack of depth at receiver will allow opposing defenses to concentrate their attack even more on No. 1 receiver Calvin Johnson.

The Indianapolis Colts secondary may not be able to take advantage of this injury on the fly, but if this injury is deemed more severe, the Lions could be in serious trouble moving forward.

Broyles does have a history with knee injuries, as he suffered a torn left ACL in college while at Oklahoma. Fortunately, this most recent injury is to his right knee, and hopefully it isn't anything serious.
