This showdown between Eastern Conference heavyweights provided plenty of entertainment, and the Miami Heat defended their home court, sending the Brooklyn Nets away with a 102-89 loss.

Miami did not make this victory easy, and trailed by as many as 14 points in the game. But solid defense allowed them to climb back in the game, and the Heat forced 18 turnovers tonight.

Dwyane Wade led the way for Miami with 34 points, the most he has scored this season. Unsurprisingly, LeBron James helped him out and recorded 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Miami is now a perfect 8-for-8 when playing at home this season, and proved that it can turn it on against one of the league’s top teams

Player of the Game: Miami SG Dwyane Wade

Wade went 14-of-20 from the field tonight, and Brooklyn’s defense had no answer for him.

He also contributed seven assists and reminded the league how dangerous the Heat can be when his shots are falling.

With Wade as the centerpiece of the offense in this game, the Heat continued to look like the best team in the NBA.

Up Next for the Nets

The Nets schedule does not get much easier going in their next contest. They will have two days off before taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

At least they get to return to the friendly confines of the Barclays Center after a three-game road trip. Brookyln is 7-1 at home this season and 11-5 overall.

Up Next for the Heat

The Heat’s next contest may be unwatchable, as 12-3 will go up against the 1-13 Washington Wizards. The Wizards are hosting this Tuesday night game, but that likely won’t matter much.

If the Heat continue playing at this level, the game in the nation’s capital will get ugly.
