After what can only be described as a disastrous start to their English Premier League campaign, Arsenal are reportedly looking to bring highly rated youngster Wilfried Zaha to The Emirates in January.

The newly capped English international currently plays for Crystal Palace but has been on the radar of many European clubs since his call-up to Roy Hodgson's squad.

According to Eurosport, Arsenal have begun negotiations to bring Zaha into the top flight of English football. With talk suggesting that Theo Walcott could be on his way out of the club, Zaha could prove the perfect replacement for his English teammate.

The same Eurosport report cites suggestions from Goal that Arsenal would fork over £10 million up front and £2 million later to secure the youngster's services—provided that the transfer was immediate.

Despite interest from a club as big as Arsenal, Crystal Palace seem unwilling to let Zaha leave just yet.

Zaha is under contract with Palace until 2017. With the Eagles pushing for promotion into the Premier League, keeping Zaha could prove more valuable than selling him.

If club co-chairman Steve Parish's comments are anything to go by, Zaha is most definitely not for sale. Parish told the media: “He will definitely be playing at Crystal Palace after January....We’d like to think his first chance in the Premier League will be playing with us."

This season Zaha has appeared 18 times for Palace, netting five goals in the process. He's started all 18 matches, and the Eagles are sitting second in the league. Those two facts  would seem to suggest that a fee well in excess of £12 million would be needed to bring him to Arsenal.

What do you think?  Should Arsene Wenger spend that much money on a (relatively) newly discovered talent?

Should Arsenal sign Zaha?
