The Detroit Lions have made mistake after mistake since the year Matt Millen took over as the team's general manager.

No other team in the league has wasted more draft picks than the Lions. Detroit should be one of the best teams in the league right now, especially since they have been drafting in the top 10 year after year.

In 2006, the Lions selected a bright, young, talented quarterback in Drew Stanton, who spent all of his rookie season on injured reserve.

Last season the Lions were so bad, they were afraid to play Stanton, because they had no room for errors.

As the season progressed, the Lions were running out of options.

They signed veteran quarterback Daunte Culpepper to start before Week 10.

Drew Stanton played a few snaps during that game and went 9-of-17 passing for 119 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked six times in that game, which was pretty good for someone running for their life behind the Lions' horrendous offensive line.

This year there are several rumors flying around about the Detroit Lions wanting to trade for Jay Cutler or draft Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford with the first overall pick.

Stanton may not deserve to start, but he at least deserves a chance to compete.
