The New York Rangers recently announced the club has agreed to terms with free agent forward Paul Crowder of the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves.
Crowder, from Victoria, British Colombia, led Alaska-Anchorage in assists, points, shorthanded goals, power play goals, and game winning goals and was tied for second on the club in goals. He had a plus-11 rating.
Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced that the team signed Crowder to an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement and will soon join them.
Crowder, who played in Alaska, will join two Rangers born in Alaska. Both Brandon Dubinsky and Scott Gomez were born in Anchorage.
The Rangers played in Mystery, Alaska, a 1999 comedy about a fictional small-town ice hockey team that plays a game against the New York team in Alaska.
Members of the New York Rangers declined invitations to appear in the movie, but it did feature Phil Esposito and Barry Melrose, as themselves, as well as Mike Myers, Little Richard, and Burt Reynolds.
