What’s up with Manchester City?

After winning the English Premier League title last spring,  manager Roberto Mancini has his team contending domestically again this season. Problem is, the league title wasn’t City’s only goal this time.

These days, considering all the money that has been poured into the squad, City and Mancini are after bigger prizes—namely the UEFA Champions League.

And yet, City already find themselves eliminated from the competition, having failed to progress from the group stage for the second consecutive season.

The reasons for City’s European failures are numerous, from injuries to pressure to poor decisions to bad investments to the simple fact that Group D was brutal this season.

But even though City came up against a pair of top-class teams in Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the group stage, that doesn’t excuse their poor results against Ajax.

So, again, what’s the matter with City?

In this video, B/R lead writers Michael Cummings and Will Tidey try to answer that question. Be sure to add your thoughts to the comments below.
