UFC 96: Exciting Fight Card, Poor Referee Decisions
(Photo by Gary M. Prior/Getty Images).
I thought UFC 96 lived up to the hype. There were several great battles, including the war between "Rampage" Jackson and Keith Jardine.
I thought Matt Brown came into the ring with determination and spirit, and he easily disposed of Pete Sell. This was a huge surprise to me.
Considering the beating Sell was taking, the referee should have stopped the fight earlier. I'm not sure if it is allowed in the UFC, but Sell's corner should have thrown in the towel.
Kendell Grove won in impressive fashion. Brandon Vera also redeemed himself. Still, Vera's dedication is yet to be determined
The battle between Shane Carwin and Gabriel Gonzaga met expectations. Gonzaga was too anxious, and he was knocked out by Carwin.
The fight between Jackson and Jardine was exciting to watch. I would love to see the fight go another round. Maybe that could be a new rule. If two fighters are competing for the No. 1 contender then have them fight four rounds.
Until next time, peace.
