Any hope that Jammal Brown was going to return and save the right side of the Washington Redskins' offensive line has been put to bed with news that Brown will indeed miss the entire 2012 season due to the balky hip that's kept him out since training camp.

The veteran right tackle has been placed on the injured reserve, according to Mark Maske and Mike Jones of the Washington Post

That's bad news for the Redskins, because Tyler Polumbus has struggled quite mightily at times in Brown's stead this season. However, it should be noted that Brown has been one of the most inconsistent offensive tackles in the league when he has been healthy over the last two years. He's not the player he used to be, so this might not be a season-altering event.

Plus, they're used to not having him by now.

On to what else is being talked about in the league's most popular division.

Dallas Cowboys

Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News looks at the career year Anthony Spencer is having under the franchise tag.

Spencer has taken over defensive play-calling duties with Bruce Carter out, according to Carlos Mendez of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

New York Giants

From Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger: With Andre Brown out for the season, the Giants have added Kregg Lumpkin and Ryan Torain

From ESPNNewYork.com's Ohm Youngmisuk: Kenny Phillips says he's good to go.

Philadelphia Eagles

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that the Wide 9 is likely to follow Jason Babin out the door.

PhillyMag.com's Tim McManus notes that Babin laughed when he got the call from Andy Reid.

Washington Redskins

DeJon Gomes is getting another chance to start, per Rich Campbell of the Washington Times

From Rich Tandler of CSN Washington and RealRedskins.com: Justin Tuck says Robert Griffin III gives him nightmares.
