Kobe Bryant's sloppy 40-point performance nearly resulted in a Los Angeles Lakers win Tuesday night, but the Indiana Pacers still found a way to earn a 79-77 victory.

Bryant was able to hit a three-point shot with less than 25 seconds left to tie the game at 77 apiece, but George Hill handed Indiana the victory by making a layup with less than one second on the clock.

The Lakers were paced by Bryant, but that may have been the problem. He scored more than half of their points, but he also shot less than 50 percent from the field. He also had 10 turnovers.

Indiana got double-digit contributions from four different players with Hill's 19-point night leading the way. No one stood out, but the Pacers' team concept was strong enough to earn the victory over their west coast counterparts.

Player of the Game: David West

West is an underrated talent for Indiana. He will never be a superstar, but he's a consistent presence on the offensive end of the floor.

Hill led the team in scoring, but West's 16-point, 10-rebound and eight-assist effort set the tone for the entire game. It's not always pretty, but West knows how to get the job done in the dirty areas.

The Pacers aren't going to be flashy, and that's why West fits. Los Angeles had no answer for him on Tuesday.
