The ACC’s Atlantic Division champion Florida State Seminoles will look to nail down the overall conference championship and BCS Bowl Series berth this upcoming Saturday night when they tangle with this Coastal Division’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The ACC title game is set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Florida State’s national-title hopes were dashed in early October with a stunning 17-16 loss to NC State as a 17-point road favorite. The Seminoles' extended stay in the Top 10 ended with last Saturday’s 37-26 loss to No.4 Florida as seven-point home favorites. The net result is a 10-2 record straight up but a costly 3-8 record against the spread. The total has gone “over” in four of their last six games.
It is easy to say that Georgia Tech has backed into this title game with both Miami and North Carolina ineligible for postseason play. The Yellow Jackets' overall record of 6-6 SU (7-5 ATS) and 5-3 SU in conference play backs this statement up. Last Saturday, they were crushed 42-10 by No.3 Georgia as 14.5-point road underdogs in the team’s annual rivalry game. The total has gone over in seven of their last 10 games.
Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Betting Storylines
Florida State started the season out as one of the top contenders for a BCS title, but inconsistency on offense and a couple of crucial breakdowns on defense never allowed the Seminoles to reach their true potential. They are still clearly the best team in a watered-down ACC with a balanced offensive attack and a defense that is still ranked seventh in the nation in points allowed (15.1).
Behind quarterback EJ Manuel, Florida State is averaging 273.7 passing yards per game while a trio of running backs in Chris Thompson, Devonta Freeman and James Wilder Jr. have combined for 1,759 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns this year. Keep an eye on Manuel’s playing status. He took a shot in the head against the Gators but is listed as probable for this Saturday night.
Balance on offense would definitely not be the proper term to describe Georgia Tech. The passing game has almost been nonexistent this season, with a woeful average of just 135.4 yards a game. The Yellow Jackets are truly one-dimensional when it comes to moving the ball up and down the field.
However, when you have a rushing attack that is averaging 323.3 yards a game, it can still be very effective at putting points on the board.
Georgia Tech boasts six different players with more than 380 yards rushing the ball this season, including quarterback Tevin Washington. He has thrown for only 1,097 yards and seven touchdowns, but he has added 618 yards and an incredible 18 scores with his legs. The main reason for the Yellow Jackets' .500 record is a defense that is giving up more than 30 points a game.

College Football Picks: Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Betting Predictions
Giving a two-touchdown spread in a conference-title game is always a risky proposition. However, as mentioned earlier, the Yellow Jackets advanced to this ACC Championship by default. Count on Florida State bringing its “A-Game” to Charlotte this Saturday night. And while it cruises to a fairly lopsided victory, stick with the Yellow Jackets to still cover the 14 points.
