Poor Nick Foles. Yes, the Eagles rookie is getting the rare opportunity of being a starting quarterback in the NFL, but he is in a position that dooms him to failure.

Let's just confirm that he will indeed be starting as the Eagles host the Panthers this Monday night.

ESPN tweeted out the news.

While this should be a chance for Foles to show the league what he is capable of, unfortunately for him, it will only display failure.

In his first start, last week against the Redskins, Foles went 21-for-46 with 204 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns. That is good for a rating of just 40.5. He looked rushed and hurried, and he is headed for similar results.

The problems for Foles start up front. The Eagles offensive line is failing at every turn. It has been bad all year and is showing no signs of improvement.

The Eagles have allowed a league-worst 86 quarterback hits, and their quarterbacks face a constant barrage of onrushing defenders. Is there a quicker way to doom a rookie quarterback?

The biggest adjustment to the pro game a rookie has to make is the intense speed of the NFL. Foles now has to try and adjust to this while constantly trying not to be leveled in the pocket.

This is going to lead to bad mechanics, terrible decisions and bad habits.

Making matters worse for Foles is that the Eagles have ruled out their leading rusher, LeSean McCoy, for Monday night's contest.

The Panthers don't have a great pass defense, as they are ranked 17th, but the Redskins are 31st in pass defense and that didn't help Foles

Expect another dismal start for Foles on Monday night.
