Napoli's Ugly Win Puts Them Two Points Behind Juventus
It wasn't pretty, but it'll work.
Marek Hamsik made all the difference in the 72nd minute with his sixth goal of the season. It was the only goal of the game. Sloppy defending at the back should have cost Napoli multiple times. Luckily for Walter Mazzarri's side, Cagliari couldn't capitalize.
Ugly as it was, the win Monday put Napoli just two points behind Juventus, and Cavani returns for them next weekend.
Worth noting is that Insigne started and was in the game for 83 minutes before coming off for Andrea Dossena. Eduardo Vargas came on for Blerim Dzemaili in the 68th minute. Dzemaili received Napoli's only yellow card in the sixth minute.
The late game Monday featured Parma against Internazionale. If you haven't heard, Inter lost 1-0. Nicola Sansone scored his second goal of the season in the 75th minute, which proved to be enough for his side.
All told, Week 14 saw a lot of movement on the table. If you cheer the Azzurri, you couldn't be happier as they secured second place by two points over Fiorentina and Inter, who have 28 points.
Looking ahead to the Serie A schedule in Week 15 for these sides, Napoli face cellar-dweller Pescara at San Paolo. Juventus take on 14th-place Torino, Inter face 15th-place Palermo, and Fiorentina face 12th-place Sampdoria.
Simply put, it would take a shocking result to juggle the top of the table in the week ahead. But if the last few weeks have shown anything about Serie A this season, it's that anything can happen.
