In his first start, Colin Kaepernick showed he could be explosive. In his second start, Kaepernick proved he could be an NFL quarterback and just may have vaulted the 49ers back into the top spot as Super Bowl favorites.
Despite the winds of QB controversy circling around him, and in the face of a howling Superdome crowd, Kaepernick kept his cool in leading the 49ers to a huge 31-21 victory.
Kaepernick’s numbers (21-31, 231 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT) were Alex Smith-like in their boring efficiency, but no one was labeling the kid from Nevada a “game manger” following his win in the Big Easy.
Whether it’s the rocket arm, the deceptively explosive gait or the tats up and down each arm, Kaepernick radiates an explosiveness that hasn’t been seen in San Francisco since the days of Steve Young.
Check out this week’s Most Improved Player video to see why Kaepernick’s performance was a turning point for the 49ers and the entire NFL power picture.
