Borussia Dortmund star and German International Mario Gotze is renowned for his footballing prowess and trickery on the pitch. Dortmund's No. 10 has put the opposition to the sword all too many times this season and is fast becoming one of the hottest properties in all of Europe.
In the video above, Gotze shows off some trickery during one of his training sessions as he juggles his very own chewing gum, much to the delight of teammates.
When we think of chewing gum and football one never ceases to look past Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson...could a mutual love of gum bring Gotze to United? Wishful thinking.
This season, Gotze has appeared 17 times for Dortmund across all competitions netting five times thus far. Along with his reputation as a goalscorer, the attacking midfielder has turned provider on five other occasions proving instrumental in Dortmund's trumping of Real Madrid and Manchester City—as well as domestic successes.
At just 20 years of age, Mario Gotze could very well prove to go down as one of the greatest to ever step foot on the pitch. With so much potential, any move away from Germany would need to allow for adequate playing time in order to hone his development.
Although moves to the English Premier League may prove appealing, I personally see no real reason for Gotze to leave Borussia just yet. With the UCL round of 16 looming as well as a fight for the domestic league and cup, he has a plethora of playing opportunities at the very highest level.
He is just one of the many stars to have come out of Borussia Dortmund's youth academy in recent years—an academy that many of Europe's elite can learn a lot from.
