The Serie A has never been a league to shy away from controversy. With so many colourful characters, the league is alive and well off the pitch. However, this week my bets are on controversy on the pitch dominating headlines. Why? Take a look at the alleged handball by Mauricio Isla and you will see what I am talking about.
Isla was ruled to have handled the ball in the Juventus penalty area. After a slight delay, a penalty was awarded and Robinho calmly converted. Juventus ultimately went down by a single goal to AC Milan after the Rossoneri were able to contain the Bianconeri's attack.
The last time the two sides met in the league, the clash was filled with controversy also. Who could forget the Sulley Muntari goal-line incident? During that game, Milan had the opportunity to go two goals up against Juventus, but was denied by some dodgy officiating. Karma, perhaps?
After its impressive 49-game unbeaten streak, Juventus has now succumbed to two defeats in just a matter of weeks and, despite impressive form against Chelsea, could find its lead at the summit of the Italian Serie A cut to just a single point.
Milan moves up into 8th position in the league following the victory and after successfully navigating its way through the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, looks to have its season back on track.
Inter Milan faces Parma away from home tomorrow, with a win moving the Nerazzurri within one point of the defending Italian Champions. After losing both times against Milanese opposition this year, Antonio Conte's men will look to finish the year off strongly in order to go into the Christmas break as Winter Champions.
