MLB Offseason Calendar Dates Every Fan Must Know

With 90 days remaining until spring training, there are still several important dates to keep in mind as a fan of the greatest game.

There will be plenty of news and noteworthy events taking place, most of which will be surrounding the following dates. Using both ESPN.com and MLB.com as reference points, here is a concise list of all major dates moving forward. With that in mind, baseball fans, get out your calendars and mark these down:

 

Remaining in 2012

December 2: Last day for teams to offer 2013 contracts to unsigned players.

December 3: Hall of Fame pre-integration era committee (before 1946) vote announced, Nashville, TN.

December 3-6: Winter meetings, Nashville, TN.

 

2013

January 9: Baseball Hall of Fame inductee class of 2013 announced.

January 15: Salary arbitration filing.

January 18: Salary arbitration figures exchanged.

February 1-21: Salary arbitration hearings, Phoenix, AZ.

February 14: Voluntary reporting date for pitchers, catchers and injured players.

February 15: Voluntary date on which all non-World Baseball Classic position players may be invited to spring training.

February 19: Voluntary reporting date for other players.

February 26: Mandatory reporting date.

March 2-11: Teams may renew contracts of unsigned players.

March 2-6: 2013 World Baseball Classic, First Round; Pool A—Fukuoka, Japan (Fukuoka Dome): Japan, Cuba, China, Qualifier TBD

March 2-5: 2013 World Baseball Classic, First Round; Pool B—Taichung, Taiwan (Intercontinental Stadium): Korea, Netherlands, Australia, Qualifier TBD

March 7-10:  2013 World Baseball Classic, First Round; Pool C—San Juan, Puerto Rico (Hiram Bithorn Stadium): Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Qualifier TBD

March 7-10: 2013 World Baseball Classic, First Round; Pool D—Phoenix, AZ. (Chase Field & Salt River Fields at Talking Stick): United States, Mexico, Italy, Qualifier TBD

March 8-12: 2013 World Baseball Classic, Second Round; Pool 1—Tokyo, Japan (Tokyo Dome)

March 12-16: 2013 World Baseball Classic, Second Round; Pool 2—Miami, FL. (Marlins Park)

March 17-19: 2013 World Baseball Classic, Championship Round; Finals—San Francisco, CA (AT&T Park)

March 13: Last day to request unconditional release waivers on a player without having to pay his full 2013 salary.

March 27: Last day to request unconditional release waivers on a player without having to pay his full 2013 salary.

March 31: Opening day. Active rosters reduced to 25 players.
