West Bromwich Albion supporters have dubbed Steve Clarke "The Special One of Smethwick" and, once again, his side did not disappoint as a fourth successive win lifted them into third place.

While West Brom are enjoying their best start to a season since 1953 Sunderland are stuttering. Ominously for Martin O'Neill their two League wins this season have come against teams reduced to ten men and Tuesday night's meeting with Harry Redknapp's QPR has now assumed a previous unexpected significance.
