It’s the grand finale of this year’s Six Nations, and what a showdown we have in store.
Ireland are on the verge of an historic Grand Slam, which would be their first for over 60 years. Warren Gatland has been playing the psychological games this week, attempting to instill hatred of the Irish in his players.
I don’t think this will work. I think Declan Kidney will have been playing videos of previous Irish near misses, and they’ll draw on the determination of Munster to eke out a victory any which way they can. It’ll be close, but hopefully it will be monumental.
Elsewhere, the French should beat Italy, although after their strong showing against the Welsh, the Azzurri may just cause an upset. My view is that the French will bounce back strongly from their Twickenham humiliation and win comfortably.
The Calcutta Cup game is difficult to call. If England carry on where they left off last week, they could come unstuck, but if they play as well as they did in the first half against France, it ought to be a home win. There is so much history associated with this fixture that it’s hard to predict, and there’s certainly no love lost between the two sides.
Here are my SuperBru predictions for the weekend—let me know how you think the final weekend will unfold.
Game 13: Italy v France: France by 18
Game 14: England v Scotland: England by 12
Game 15: Wales v Ireland: Ireland by 4
