Hello, my friends! Welcome to another silly edition of Big Sports News. Today, we are digging deeper into the NFL offseason moves. There isn’t that much for me to write about today, so let’s get a move on.
Denver Broncos v San Diego Chargers" width="234" height="159" />The Jay Cutler situation is getting worse for the Broncos. No wonder I got a Brian Dawkins Broncos jersey instead of a Cutler.
We all know the QB has made the decision to leave; he is selling his house. Big things are already going on; the Denver Post reported that already four teams have contacted Josh McDaniels for a trade request on Cutler.
The teams that want a trade might grow bigger, but so far, I have found four: The Titans, Browns, Jets, and Buccaneers. Chicago and Buffalo might make that list as well.
The Titans can use him because Kerry Collins isn’t going to stay in the NFL forever. The Browns can take him because Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn didn’t improve whatsoever last year.
The Jets will take him if they can’t take Mark Sanchez or Josh Freeman in the draft. They also might get Cutler because the other three Jets quarterbacks are people we have never heard of (sorry, Kellen Clemens).
Bucs? Well, of course, they will take Cutler. With the loss of Jeff Garcia, who do they have? Luke McCown. Are you kidding me? Cutler can be dynamic with the Bucs. The Bears? Duh. Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman are long gone.
Then there comes the Bills, probably my favorite choice. You got Trent Edwards, but I don’t think he will be a good QB in this league. Imagine Cutler to T.O., to Lee Evans, to Josh Reed, to James Hardy. Hell, Cutler to everybody!
Baltimore Ravens
A lot of big news has been going on for the Baltimore Ravens. First, they got L.J. Smith. This is going to be hell for the cornerbacks and linebackers. It will be a one-two punch in tight ends with Todd Heap and Smith.
Second, they are looking to get one of the best offensive lineman in NFL history: Orlando Pace. Pace is visiting the Ravens squad and it looks to me he might sign with them. If they do, they will have acquired yet another blocker in the offseason.
With no chance of getting Eugene Monroe, Jason and Andre Smith, or Michael Oher, Baltimore is looking to get draft a quick Arizona guy named Eben Britton (pictured at the bottom). He was projected a late first-rounder, but boy, he is fast!
Besides getting Britton, though, they can also get Darrius Heyward-Bey. Both are fast at their positions, but I think the Ravens have already acquired many good blockers. Pace would join Matt Birk and scare defensive linemen. The Ravens need a receiver and Heyward-Bey looks like a great (and blazing fast) choice.
Now, the Ravens will have two very fast players: Fabian Washington, who ran a 4.25 in the dash, and Heyward-Bey, who ran a 4.3 in the dash.
Roy Williams
He is the biggest free agent left, in my opinion. He’s already rejected one offer already, and on Thursday he visited the Bengals, which went well.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Williams will visit two more teams: Oakland and Houston.
With the Raiders, Williams would help out the defense big time while the offense looks to improve its game. With the Texans, Williams would be a dominant player, because the Texans have only two superstars on the team and Roy will be a key addition and leader.
The Bucs were about to get him but decided he might not fit with the Tampa Two defensive scheme.
Where will Roy go? Stay tuned for another edition of Big Sports News.
