A Dummy's Guide to Mike D'Antoni's Offense

The basketball world anxiously awaits Mike D'Antoni's imprint on the L.A. Lakers offense. In theory, his style isn't compatible with L.A.'s plodding talent. Since D'Antoni has mostly operated with one approach, I doubt he will change his stripes for the personnel. The Lakers should look like the old Phoenix Suns—only taller.

Mike is a basketball minimalist, so simplicity is favored over wrinkles and counter moves. Los Angeles will rely on a thin structure and the decision-making ability of offense initiators like Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant. In short, this ain't no Triangle. Here's how the offense will probably run.
