DeShawn Stevenson Manages Awful Half-Court Shot Fail

DeShawn Stevenson didn't score a single point in his game against the Orlando Magic on Monday night, so (spoiler alert) he missed this half-court shot.

A tip of the hat to The Basketball Jones for spotting this one heave that was so awful it became news, and they even posted a picture to highlight how far Stevenson's shot landed from the bucket.

The play came in the final moments of the third quarter with the Atlanta Hawks owning a 65-49 lead over the Magic.

The ball gets into the hands of Stevenson, who is given the most rewarding shot in basketball, the half-court shot.

Really, nobody ever gets blasted for missing one of these things when the seconds tick off the clock. We all understand it's difficult and never fault a player for hitting the backboard, and even manage to congratulate anyone who hits the rim.

It's all fun and games until someone throws up a shot so awful that we are all surprised they actually hit the floor.

As The Basketball Jones noted, ESPN's John Hollinger even chimed in on the miss:

With that, Stevenson embarrassed himself on one of his three shot attempts on the night. He failed to score on the other two, but that hardly matters.

The Hawks won the game, 81-72, and their 31-year-old guard had the play of the night.
