Danny SimpsonUnited youngster, Danny Simpson, has played for the first team on seven occasions this season, in all four competitions. He was part of the team that was disgracefully beaten by Coventry in the League Cup, started two games in the Champions League, and has played in three league victories against Everton, Wigan and Newcastle.

Wes Brown has firmly held the position of right back in the absence of Gary Neville, and with Brown filling in at the centre due to Rio Ferdinand’s injury recently, John O’Shea has been played as the full back, leaving Simpson even further down the pecking order.

Today it has been announced that Ipswich Town have secured Simpson’s services on loan until the end of the season.

Gary Neville is finally set to return to the first team, after getting several games for the Reserves under his belt, meaning Simpson would have been likely not to feature again for us this season.

“It is good for the lad,” said Sir Alex Ferguson about the move. “The boy needs games and I have allowed him to go to Ipswich until the end of the season. They are a good football team and that will suit him fine.”

Will Simpson be playing for the first team more next season?
